The Gladys Winters Memorial Scholarship Fund is awarded to any Enid High School graduate who enrolls at Langston University. The sons of Gladys Winters, John and Robert, have been collecting donations and contributions for many years. They are looking forward to awarding a scholarship winner later this year.
The Gladys Winters Invitational Baseball Tournament is held in the spring for high school teams at David Allen Memorial Ballpark. The tournament is held in honor and memory of the late Gladys Alexander Winters (1931-1999.)
The Enid Plainsmen Homerun Club has four major fundraisers each year. The Winter Banquet, Spring T-ball Tournament, Fall Golf Tournament and the Baseball Media/Program Guide. Through these four fundraisers the homerun club helps provide the financial support the baseball program needs to be successful. The participation of the advertisers and sponsors is greatly appreciated.
ENID HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL
The Plainsmen baseball program is entering its seventh season under the direction of Head Coach Scott Baugh. The 2006 Plainsmen were 23-16 under Baugh, as they won their second regional tournament and made their second straight state tournament appearance.
In 2005, Baugh was named Region One Coach of the year by the Oklahoma Coaches Association and in 2002 the Enid News & Eagle named Baugh their 2002 Athletic Achievement Award Boy Coach of the Year.
