David Allen Memorial Ballpark, Enid’s field of dreams, has become a reality.

“We have a facility that every young man will be proud to play in,” Enid High School athletic director, Bill Mayberry said. “And one fans will be proud to come watch a game in.”

Initial plans to build the ballpark began on October 1, 1996 when Mayberry, Todd Humphrey and city officials met to discuss Trinity’s offer to sell the property.

Paul and Joan Allen had interested in underwriting the construction of the ballpark as a memorial to their son David, a former Enid High and American Legion baseball player.

The ballpark committee made the announcement of the Allen’s family involvement in September of 1997.

Downtown in Enid, Oklahoma, is David Allen Memorial Ballpark. Opened in 1999 as the host of the American Legion State Tournament.

The ballpark is a $1.3 million dollar project that features a covered grandstand, mezzanine level, seats 3000 fans, digital scoreboard, video board and state-of-the-art sound and lighting.

The park is also used for high school, college and American Legion baseball, state, regional and national tournaments, outdoor concerts and special events.
