Still In The Hunt…

Monday, November 27th, 2006

The Minnesota Vikings beat the Arizona Cardinals this weekend to move to 5-6 and stay in the hunt for a wild card sport. f49a1fb2-8962-445c-a254-c7f939c9aae0_thumbnail.jpgI think 9-7 will get a team into a wild card spot and there are about ten teams in the hunt for that spot so your guess is as good as mine as to who is going to make it.The Vikings play the bears this week and I’m assuming they are going to lose, so if they do then they would have to win the remainder of their games to get to that mark. With four weeks left to play, it should be an exiting month.

Call It A Season…

Ok, so I definitely over hyped the Minnesota Vikings and I’m going to apologize because as much as I am right, which is a lot, this was a huge mistake.  When the Vikings were 4-2, I thought for sure they would make the playoffs, thumb_7777a27af385429cbd7fe74901d72792_vikings_dolphins_football_mds109.jpgbut after three consecutive loses including two to teams with losing records and two at home, I’m officially calling it a season.  I was a year early in thinking that the Vikings were a playoff contender but I also thought that their QB would act his age, which is close to 40 if not 40, and protect the ball and let the defense win games.  That hasn’t happened and that’s why next year, with a new QB, and still the great defense, they should be ready.  I believe that they can end up with winning record but they can’t compete when they get to the playoffs.

Where’d the O’ Go?

The Viking’s offense is on vacation right now and I don’t know when they’re coming back. After their big showdown on Monday night with the Pats, where they didn’t score an offensive touchdown, they went into San Francisco and repeated the same performance scoring only a field goal against the lowly 49ers. And now, they are 4-4 with three very, very winnable games, you would think. If only half of their offense decides to come back, they should be 7-4 with a game against the Bears and that’s a worst case scenario now that they’ve let this last game slip away.

Staying Under the Radar…

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

The Minnesota Vikings went up to the defending NFC champs and mopped the floor with them.  They beat Seattle 31-13 on Sunday with a dominating defense and a very solid run game.  I was waiting for the highlights of the game to see what they had to say about the game and guess what; all they talked about was the Seahawks and all their injuries and jinxes.  I was kind of mad at first but I turned this into a good thing.  As long as the Vikings are staying under the radar, teams won’t gear up for them like they would a Colts, Bears, etc.  They get the Patriots at home this Monday and even if they lose this game they are still in good position like I said last week.  If they win, they won’t be under the radar anymore, but don’t play anybody that should beat them until the Bears in Week 13.

Rested and Ready to Play!

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off of a bye week and face Seattle on the road this weekend. Before the bye week the Vikings beat Detroit with their defense scoring two touchdowns in the 4th quarter. I think 3-2 is a good start because they played a tough schedule and beat one team they should have loss to and loss to won team they should have beat to cancel each game out. Looking a head, the Vikings have the Patriots at home after the Seahawks and if they could go 1-1 in these two games, that would be great because they have three very winnable games in row after these next two weeks. I have confidence that they can and then will win those games which will put them at 7-3 and a rematch in Chicago with the best team in the NFL.

Minnesota Vikings

vikings-logo.jpgThe Minnesota Vikings were given their first loss of the season this weekend. They lost 19-16 at the hand of NFC Division North rival Chicago Bears. It was a hard fought game that the Vikings had up until 1:55 seconds left in the game. Vikings’ fans knew they weren’t going to go 16-0, and should realize that to get out of the first three games at 2-1 is a good sign, because looking at the schedule, that’s probably the toughest span of games throughout the season. The Vikings play at Buffalo this weekend and then have Detroit at home so going into the bye week the Vikings should be at a strong 4-1. We shall see.
