Oklahoma State

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

The Cowboys came back down to Earth this weekend with a loss at the hands of the Houston Cougers. The offense was amazing withoklahoma_state_university_oksu1_small.jpg Bobby Reid looking like Vince Young. He distributed the ball well to both D’Jaun and Adarius but the defense was really exposed to an above average but not great offense in Houston. They have a bye week before they open conference play and should win the first two games in Kansas and Kansas State but if they don’t figure out what they’re doing on defense, it will be another long season in Stillwater.

MLB

images.jpgThe Atlanta Braves have finally been eliminated from postseason consideration, but let’s give them a hand for winning 14 division championships in row. The Braves are my team but there gone so let’s get on to the playoffs. In the AL, we know what four teams are in with them being, NY Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers and the Oakland A’s(the A’s haven’t officially clinched but most likely will). The Yankees have to be the favorites because of all the talent they have and I really think that the Chicago White Sox had the only real shot of taking them down but they are eliminated. In the NL, the NY Mets have clinched and that’s it. I look for the St. Louis Cardinals, San Diego Padres and Philadelphia Phillies to also clinch and I think its wide open because no team has dominating pitching or hitting. Also, is the L.A. Dodgers make it, I look for them to face the Yankees in the World Series.

Minnesota Vikings

vikings-logo.jpgThe Minnesota Vikings were given their first loss of the season this weekend. They lost 19-16 at the hand of NFC Division North rival Chicago Bears. It was a hard fought game that the Vikings had up until 1:55 seconds left in the game. Vikings’ fans knew they weren’t going to go 16-0, and should realize that to get out of the first three games at 2-1 is a good sign, because looking at the schedule, that’s probably the toughest span of games throughout the season. The Vikings play at Buffalo this weekend and then have Detroit at home so going into the bye week the Vikings should be at a strong 4-1. We shall see.

Oklahoma Sooners

ou.jpgThe Oklahoma Sooners gained a confidence booster this week as they beat Middle Tennessee State 59-0. They should be 4-0 but we won’t mention the Oregon in which they won in every way except the final score. But it’s time to move on and the Sooner’s have a bye week to prepare for the Red River Shootout. They play Texas on Oct. 7th and this will be a make or break game for the Sooner’s’ season.

The Sports Guy…..

This semester I plan to give you an in depth look at the sporting world in general. I’m a sports nut so any questions you have about sports should be found on my website. The main purpose of this site is to give my opinion on what’s hot in the sporting scene, with extra attention going to the Major League Baseball pennant races, the Minnesota Vikings, Oklahoma State University athletics, Oklahoma University athletics and the Big 12 Conference in general.
