Fixing Firefox

If Firefox fails to open or if you have not yet successfully installed the Web Developer extension in Firefox where you have a toolbar of editing options, do the following, which is going to cause you to lose your Live Bookmarks (RSS subscriptions) :

  1. Quit Firefox, if it is running
  2. In the Finder, under the Go menu, select “Go to Folder” and then type: ~/Library/Preferences/
  3. Drag the file named “org.mozilla.firefox.plist” to the trash
  4. In the Finder, under the Go menu, select “Go to Folder” and then type: ~/Library/Application Support/
  5. Drag the folder named “Firefox” to the trash
  6. Launch Firefox
  7. You will need to click the download link to begin the installation.
  8. It is OK to install this extension so approve it. When everything is done you’ll have to restart Firefox and, if everything is successful, you see options for CSS, Forms, Images, etc. in the toolbars. It may take two or three clicks to get Firefox to eventually launch. You may also have to log out or restart the Mac in order for Firefox to launch and not tell you that it’s already running.
