Survey Questions for JB school students and recent grads

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Below is a brief qualitative survey being conducted by Greg Brooks, principal, West Third Group. If you could forward this to your students for them to complete I would appreciate it.

Responses should be sent to gregwbrooks@gmail.com. If a student wishes to remain anonymous they may forward their answers to me and I will forward to Greg without their identifying information.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

A sort of unscientific survey for those still in school or those who’ve recently graduated:

Questions:

  1. What are the three top benefits (traditional, weird, unique to you — it doesn’t matter) that you’d like to have at a new job.
  2. (If you are not a student please skip question #2 and move to question #3) If you are a student and could work part-time in something related to journalism or PR while in school, how many hours a week do you think you could consistently work? (For the purposes of this question, assume that you could have crunch times around finals or mid-terms off and that the schedule was very flexible, i.e., you could work days or nights depending on your coursework).
  3. What hourly wage would you consider competitive? (Please indicate whether you are referring to a full-time position [for grads] or part-time work while in school [for students].) Put another way, at what hourly rate does a job begin to get your attention?

Internship Opportunity

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Jack Hodgson sent this from Kelsey King today:

I’m e-mailing you because the public policy think tank where I work is looking for some interns. We specifically would love to have someone PR or broadcast because we are looking for new marketing techniques and breaking into the YouTube world. Sometimes the nerdy political science kids just can’t handle that kind of stuff :) We are looking for people Spring and Summer 2008. We’ve also extended the deadline. because only 2 kids have applied. If anyone is interested they can call or e-mail me. I’m attaching information and an application.

This is a really great opportunity for someone looking for the atypical internship. We see lots of legislators and have lots of fun. OCPA deals mainly with conservative issues, but we are non-partisan and love to have kids from all over the political spectrum, and I really want another COWBOY in the office. Pay is $6/hr. Please pass it along to others in the JB department.
