At OColly.com, we use Google Analytics to learn about our audience and provide statistics to our advertisers. It’s not the only method we use, but it’s very helpful. Comparing our stats for this semester vs. the same period a year ago can offer us insight into what we’re doing right or what we may be doing wrong.

Here’s some info about the people who read ocolly.com:

  • This semester, roughly 90,000 people have visited our site;
  • We have served nearly a quarter of a million pages;
  • Of our overall traffic, only about 25 percent is from inside the state of Oklahoma and only 13 percent is from inside of Stillwater;
  • Outside of Oklahoma, the most popular states in order are: Texas, California, New York and Massachusetts;
  • The most popular single group of pages on our site are the classified ads.
  • This semester “ron paul” is the single most common search term outside of the normal stuff you would expect;
  • On average, people spend a little less than a minute and a half on our site, but for Stillwater residents that number is nearly four minutes;
  • A little less than 25 percent of our traffic is sent here from Google while about 5 percent comes from the OSU home page;
  • Compared to a year ago, Safari usage is up nearly 50 percent, Macintosh usage is up about 10 percent and Linux usage is up 500 percent;
  • iPhone usage is 0.21 percent of our overall traffic;
  • More than Nearly 95 percent of our audience has a monitor larger than 800×600 and more than 55 percent have a monitor larger than 1024×768;
